Bachelors degree in art therapy?

May 21st, 2011 | Category: art therapy programs

I’m hoping someone out there can help. I know art therapy is a growing field, and I just learned you can get a bachelors in the program at certain places. What are the odds of getting a job with a bachelors? Or should I just keep trying for my masters?
If I do get a bachelors in art therapy, and decided I want to get my masters at a later date, will I have problems getting into a Program with an art therapy degree? Most of the masters programs I have seen require a BA in education or psychology

I want to be an Art Therapist in the Bay Area, California in Private Practice. I have a Bachelor’s Degree and education in law/international relations & visual arts. Do I need to get a master’s in Art Therapy, if so could I be accepted even though I am not a Psychology major?

Does San Francisco State or University of San Francisco have master’s programs? Which other schools and what is the job market like for Art Therapist??

THANK YOU!
