This research attempted to examine the effect a group art therapy has on improving self-esteem, relieving stress and social adaptive capacity for siblings of developmentally disabled children. As a result, a group art has been confirmed to be effective in improving siblings of developmentally disabled children’s self-esteem, reducing stress by decreasing negative feelings about family and improving social adaptive capacity through group process. Therefore, a group art therapy programme can be concluded as being effective in improving self-streem, reducing stress and improving social adaptive capacity.

Is anyone practicing art therapy?

I am wondering if it is advisable to go ahead and begin with a masters in Art Therapy with an accredited program that prepares you for certification or look elsewhere to major in an alternate counseling program- then supplement later with Art therapy.
Does a masters in Art therapy stand on its own today in the job world? Could I supplement at a later date with graduate certificates from the local state university in MFC?
I welcome any advice or insight into the profession. Thank you so much:)

Bachelors degree in art therapy?

I’m hoping someone out there can help. I know art therapy is a growing field, and I just learned you can get a bachelors in the program at certain places. What are the odds of getting a job with a bachelors? Or should I just keep trying for my masters?
If I do get a bachelors in art therapy, and decided I want to get my masters at a later date, will I have problems getting into a Program with an art therapy degree? Most of the masters programs I have seen require a BA in education or psychology

How long does it take to become an occupational therapist?

Does someone have to get a bachelors degree before getting into an occupational therapy program, or is occupational therapy itself a four year program? I am a college freshman and very interested in occupational therapy. I’m also in love with art, so I would like to somehow combine the two in a major or career….maybe art therapy? Thanks for any answers or suggestions!

MSW vs Masters in Art Therapy vs Masters in Counseling:?

I would like honest opinions on which Masters degree program would offer the best potential for decent employment upon graduation?

My current profession is in social work, as a case manager. I am only one class shy of a Masters in Education, but obviously that is irrelevant within my field.

I was a teacher for five years, but taught out of the country and my license became inactive. In lieu of going back into teaching, I decided to make a transition into social work and move into another career.

I want to work as a therapist, dealing with clients on a more personal and detailed level.

Many people have told me that a Masters in Art Therapy is just a "trend" and doesn’t really offer as many job possibilities as the MSW or a Masters in Counseling. I personally believe in Art Therapy, but do need to consider my future and financial situation as well.

I live in the tri-state area of PA, where NJ or NYC is a reasonable commute. I am open to relocating.

I hope that I will get a few serious responses.

How can I become an art therapist?

Okay so I recently enrolled in a community college and would like to transfer as soon as possible.I would like to major in art because it is the quickest way to transfer and also because I really love it. But I also hear that you need to major in psychology to get into a graduate program in art therapy. I am not sure at all what I should major in, because I really would like to become an art therapist. Would someone please tell me how I can become an art therapist, and what I should be majoring in?

I want to become an art therapist would…..?

Okay I’ve been recently thinking about going to Temple University because I plan on studying psychology but I also always had a thing for art and I’m even in national art honor society. Everyone says I’m great at drawing (my art teacher said im an awesome drawer and I could get a job in art or a related field) but I don’t think going plainly into an art school would be a great idea. I would like to make a good salary. Anyways I thought about double majoring in art and psychology in college. So I want to know does Temple have good enough art programs? Because I might go for art therapy in graduate school. Please give me good answers and if you know any better schools for me to choose from can you list them also.

Art Therapy Pre-reqs?
