Charting the Course Part 7: Voice and Vision

August 29th, 2010 | Category: art therapy courses

This short film, featuring a variety of arts in healthcare programs, was produced in 2006 in Chicago for the Society for the Arts in Healthcare and its conference held there. It demonstrates the valuable ways the arts can impact the healthcare experience — from music performances, to visual art, art making and design. The video interviews physicians, patients, designers and family members and proves to be a great tool for promoting the value of the arts in healthcare.

If I want to do art therapy what can I minor in if my school does not offer an art therapy minor?

August 24th, 2010 | Category: art therapy programs

I’m getting a BFA in painting, and I do plan on going to grad school eventually, however, as of right now, I am a junior/seinor (76 credits) and I have not started to take any classes to obtain a minor in anything. Since I’ve always been interested in Art therapy, I was wondering, since my school does not offer an art therapy program at all, could I possibly minor in psychology, or sociology and be able to practice art therapy with that? Or do I need to major in it completely? Anyone have any ideas?

hey guys, i’m heading a volunteer program for Hospice. it’s a summer program where we get teens to come visit people at the nursing home, and i’m the adult in charge of heading the art therapy program

what would be some good art projects for the elderly that take less than an hour and would be easy and they would like?
