Art therapy is a very specific field- but that mental health counselors can still use art with their clients. Depending on your client’s level of functioning- you could suggest that folks make some holiday ornaments one day… or color pictures, or make signs with their names on them to be displayed outside their room. It doesn’t have to be "theraputic" to be theraputic- it’s something nice to do, that makes the day go by more smoothly- and folks may enjoy the sense of accomplishment.
But if you have any art or occupational therapists on staff- I’d definitly consult with them- as well as consulting with your supervisor before beginning a new project.
