What do you know about art therapy?
Just taking a personal interest survey…
If you’ve heard of art therapy before, how would you define what it is?
Do you believe it can help people? Who would it most benefit?

i think it’s great for seniors cuz it enables them to tap into parts of who they are that their generation didn’t really see as important…my grandpa is an incredible artist but he has a very deep understanding of the human psyche, whereas others from his generation were busy trying to survive the great depression(so was he)
i think it’s great for children as well to see the colors they choose and how the colors relate to their vascillating and sensitive moods…
people too caught up in their careers would benefit basically because they are the ones with the most walls built up(emotionally)and this could serve as a big breakthrough if they used it(the therapy) for all it was worth…
i guess everyone…
o & i think art therapy can be in the form of giving a patient a blank canvas & oils (or sheet of paper and charcoals or pencil)
kids given some crayons or finger paint
and sculpting
or patient and therapist looking at art and talking about how pieces make them feel
Hi I have heard of art as therapy. I have also heard as gardening as therapy. I knit for therapy. I also want to purchase a dog for therapy. As in my case all of the above are good aspects for therapy including art therapy. I had an accident and broke my arms. I have use of my arms thank God! So anything I can do to help releive the pain and calm my mind helps. My next project will be art therapy after my next surgery.
I believe art can be a medium used by therapists with their clients who may not be able to verbalize their worries, fears or needs, by using art it is a safe way for an individual to express emotion, or an event which has troubled them deeply, and than the therapist can use other techniques to improve the psychological well being of that individual
